  • "Our Lives on the Spectrum - Mental Health and the Fallacy of Balance" explores the misconceptions surrounding the concept of work-life balance and offers profound insights drawn from Tim's time spent working in some of the world’s great restaurants. By sharing his personal experiences and professional learnings within the context of developing mental health technology, Tim will challenge the core belief that mental wellbeing is solely determined by what you do (or don’t do). Instead, the presentation reveals a deeper understanding of mental health and the role of purpose, hope and your support network in creating a foundation to a more fulfilling life.

    Jo Rae will be hosting this panel session and asking our experienced managers to openly discuss their past errors and detail the strategies they've put in place to prevent their recurrence.

  • Everyone is talking about Build to Rent. What is it, how is it going to change Aotearoa’s rental landscape, and where does the Residential Tenancies Act fit in? Described as a rental revolution, expert Denise Lee, Head of Build to Rent for Property Council NZ, and Paula Ormandy, partner at law firm Buddle Findlay, will walk through what this exciting new form of accommodation means for you.

  • Richard will be discussing how professional negligence insurance works, and why it is so important for property managers to have such insurance and understand how it works given the upcoming regulatory changes.

    The upcoming regulatory changes mean that it will be critical that property management firms are properly insured. Richard will outline some of the following topics:

    • The type of insurance you need;

    • What is covered and what is not;

    • When claims should be notified, and the claim administration process ie, how critical it is that there is early notification;

    • The critical relationships – ie. Broker, claims manager, and appointed counsel;

    • Examples of claims involving property managers and musings about the likely effect of the regulatory changes on claims (including examples of previous claims);

    • The consequences and costs of failing to secure proper cover.

  • During this session Jenny Robson, Principal Tenancy Adjudicator and Rex Woodhouse, Deputy Principal Tenancy Adjudicator will present an:

    • Overview of the Tenancy Tribunal

    • Process from date of filing an application to issue of the Tribunal decision
